2 injured in crash on I-35

Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a rear-end collision involving three vehicles on Interstate 35 three miles north of Albert Lea.
Douglas Thompson, 80, of Jackson and Karen Dykstra, 69, of Worthington were transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
Their injuries were deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The report stated a 2013 Dodge Caravan, driven by Thompson; a 2015 Chevy Express van, driven by Dykstra; and a 2002 Dodge Durango, driven by Ronald Fitz, 50, of Hollandale, were all northbound on I-35 two miles north of Interstate 90 when the crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m.
The Caravan reportedly collided with the Chevy van, and debris caused damage to the Durango.
Fitz and Thompson’s passenger, Audrey Chonko, 75, of Jackson, were not injured.
According to the report, all occupants were wearing their seat belts, and no alcohol was detected.
The roads were listed as dry at the time of the crash.
