Choirs perform tonight
The Albert Lea High School choirs will perform their spring concert at 7 p.m. tonight at the Albert Lea High School auditorium. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students at the door.
Book sale this week
The Friends of the Albert Lea Public Library will hold their spring book sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday’s sale is open from 4 to 7 p.m. for members only, and people can become a member at the sale for $5. Friday’s sale is open from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday’s sale is open from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale will be held in the City Center Garage immediately west of the library.
Broitzman, Larson asking to waive second jail stint
Albert Lea residents Brianna Broitzman and Ashton Larson will appear in Freeborn County District Court Tuesday requesting they not have to serve the second stint of their jail sentences.
Broitzman and Larson were convicted last year of abusing residents at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Both women were sentenced to staggered sentences of 180 days in jail after being convicted of three counts of disorderly conduct by a caregiver, each involving a different resident at the Good Samaritan Society nursing home.
They were ordered to serve 60 days in jail immediately after sentencing, but could petition to waive the second two jail terms in writing 30 days prior to the start of each term.
Big Nine boys’ tennis meet rescheduled for tonight
The Big Nine Conference boys’ tennis meet, originally scheduled for Saturday, was rescheduled for this morning due to rain over the weekend. Albert Lea won two conference matches this season and began play at 9 a.m. at the Rochester Outdoor Tennis Center.
Albert Lea girls’ track and field hosts home meet
The Albert Lea girls’ track and field team hosts their first home meet at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Hammer Field against Rochester John Marshall and Rochester Mayo.
