First Lutheran Church will host the Ascension Ringers Handbell Choir of Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, at 4 p.m. March 6. The Ascension Ringers are a choir of 12 ringers utilizing a five-octave set of Schumelrich handbells and a six-octave set of Malmark choir chimes. They are directed by Larry B. Peterson, Director of Music for Campus Ministries and instructor of organ in the Department of Music. Peterson is a former Minister of Music at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

The ensemble plays for worship services on campus, as well as annual seasonal events at Augustana College. The group also performs off-campus concerts as the ringers’ schedules allow. A freewill offering will be taken at the concert. A reception will follow the group’s performance.
