Ascension Lutheran Church Woman
The Ascension Lutheran Church Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Association had their regular meeting at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 14 following worship service. Co-presidents Lola Evans and Denise Sandager opened the meeting with devotions and prayer.
Evans conducted the business meeting. The secretary’s report was read by Lorraine Schaper and approved. There was no treasurer’s report.
Correspondence was read from Mankato Campus Ministry.
A committee report was given by Joan Anderson for Mission in Growth. She provided information regarding to Thrivent Financial funds availability. A brunch will be served in Carlsen Hall following the worship service on the first Sunday each month beginning on March 6.
Ruth Furland, Mission in Action, reported that the quilting group had received stacks of material for quilting. Due to the work ahead, the quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday and welcome help.
Lynn Hestness, Mission in Community, reported to remember March 8 with attention for Women in Global Ministry.
Doris Guenthner demonstrated the rolling machine for bandages for Global Health Ministry. For all those who can come, there will be the first date to tear and roll bandages at 9 a.m. March 1 at Ascension Lutheran Church.
Marilyn Danielsen reported on the upcoming Ascension aebleskiver supper which is scheduled from 4 to 6:30 p.m. April 17.
The book “Healing After Loss” had been given to recent families. Sandager will order more.
Under new business the guest night program was discussed. More information will be looked into and reported on.
The next meeting will be March 13 following the worship service.
The Blue Earth River Conference spring event will be April 9 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Registration and coffee time will be from 8 to 9 a.m. The theme of the conference is “Our Hands, God’s Work in the World.” The conference will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration is $5 per person.
