HAGER CITY, Wis. — Sheriff’s officials in western Wisconsin expect autopsy results next week on the body of a woman who was found in her van submerged in the Mississippi River.
Twenty-three-year-old Marya Christiansen had been missing since early Saturday when she left a friend’s house in Red Wing after socializing with friends at a Red Wing bar. The mother of two lived across the river near Hager City.
The Pierce County water patrol unit found her van near the Trenton Island boat launch under a back channel bridge Wednesday. Sheriff Nancy Hove said the road approaching the bridge makes a slight turn, but Christiansen’s van went straight into the river.
Hove said authorities don’t suspect foul play, but the investigation is continuing.
