Savelkoul Law Office welcomes new employee

Abby Leach, a 2008 graduate of Albert Lea High School, has accepted a position with Savelkoul Law Office.

Leach graduated from St. Mary’s University of Winona in 2011 and from the University of South Dakota School of Law on May 7. Leach started at the Savelkoul Law Office on May 10.

During her law school career, Leach was honored with the Most Outstanding Law Student in the Nation award by Delta Theta Phi, a national legal fraternity. Leach also competed as a member of South Dakota’s Transactional Law Team and Civil Trial Team against other law schools throughout the country. Leach is the vice chairwoman for the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Student Reporters Group.

Leach will focus on business and corporate law, real estate, estate planning, agriculture law and litigation. Leach has substantial experience in the ag business field, as she previously worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred as a research associate and for a venture capitalist company in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, dealing with new agricultural products and technologies.

Having grown up in Albert Lea, Leach feels the city has a bright future, and she would like to contribute to the community’s growth. Leach has a passion for small businesses, as her family owns Performance Landscaping in Albert Lea.

“I am really excited to come back and work in my hometown,” Leach said. “It is an honor to work with the attorneys and staff at Savelkoul Law Office. I am looking forward to assisting individuals and businesses that I have grown up with around Southern Minnesota.”

In her free time, Leach loves to golf, cook and run.
