To the Northwood-Kensett and Lake Mills athletes competing in the Iowa state track and field meet.
Congratulations to all of the area athletes who competed in the Iowa high school state track and field meet.
Lake Mills took both boys’ and girls’ relay teams to the competition, as well as student Lexi Groe, who competed in an individual event.
Northwood-Kensett senior Tom Yezek competed in the discus throw and came out setting a state record on Friday. We look forward to hearing the results from each of the events.
To the Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Plymouth Police Department.
Thank you to our local law enforcement officers, as well as the Plymouth Police Department, who last week arrested seven people in Albert Lea for solicitation of prostitution. While we’d like to say things like this aren’t happening in our community, it’s clear they are with the arrests that were made.
We appreciate the police for being proactive in setting up this undercover operation. We hope this makes a statement that this type of behavior will not go unnoticed.
To the people who have filed for public office.
Filing for public office began Tuesday, and we
appreciate the people who decided to get
involved and run for the Albert Lea City Council or the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners.
Filing runs through May 31, so if you are still thinking about stepping up to run, now’s your chance.
To the volunteers and participants in this year’s triathlon in Albert Lea.
The weather was great, and people looked like they enjoyed watching and taking part in the Land Between the Lakes Paddle, Pedal, Run on Saturday.
This year’s race started and transitioned at the Brookside Boat Landing. It included a 1.5-mile paddle, a nine-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. Look to a future issue of the Tribune for the results.
All the proceeds from the event will go to the fundraising efforts for a splash pad in Albert Lea.
