DETROIT LAKES — State investigators have determined staff at a Detroit Lakes group home failed to provide CPR to a resident who was found unresponsive and later died.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services report said the developmentally disabled adult at Lakes Homes and Program Development had been sick for a few days before the resident was found with no pulse in March. Emergency responders arrived and took the resident to the hospital where a heartbeat was temporarily restored. The resident later died.
According to a press release, investigators said two staff members who found the vulnerable adult did not provide CPR because one of them thought the resident had already died.
The two staffers are no longer employed there.
