STILLWATER — A Washington state man has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison for turning a 13-year-old Minnesota girl into his online sex slave.

Under a plea deal, 20-year-old Cheyenne Cody Vedaa Foster, of Arlington, Washington, was sentenced Thursday to 28 years and eight months. He pleaded guilty in April to first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving sexual penetration, personal injury and force or coercion, even though he never met his victim in person.

Foster admitted to conveying threats of punishment through text messages, video chats and social media to coerce his victim, a girl from the St. Paul suburb of Lake Elmo, to sexually abuse herself.

Foster told the judge it burns him inside to think of what he has done and who he has hurt.
