The city of Albert Lea will celebrate the completion of the dog park and the Cellfie Tour projects at 10 a.m. Saturday. The two projects were funded by a grant the city received from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and by donations raised by the project leads. The ribbon cutting will be at the dog park, located in Brookside Park, on Richway Drive, south of the Boathouse.

The 1.5 acre dog park is split between a .25 acre area for small dogs and a 1.25 acre area for larger dogs. The Rotary Club of Albert Lea led the project, raising over $25,000 for the fence and other amenities.

Three Albert Leans designed the Cellfie Tour, selecting sites to place QR codes and selfie stations throughout downtown Albert Lea. When one scans the QR code, historical information about the buildings appear.
