Albert Lea man pleads not guilty to sexual abuse

An Albert Lea man entered provisional not guilty pleas Thursday in Freeborn County District Court to a dozen counts of first-and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Hector Guerrero, 54, entered the pleas to six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Court documents allege Guerrero sexually abused two girls between August 2007 and March 2015.

Guerrero was reportedly known to the alleged victims.

Court documents state one of the alleged victims was 11 years old when the alleged incidents began. The other alleged victim was 14 years old during the alleged incidents.

He is accused of drugging one of his alleged victims at least once.

A settlement conference is scheduled for Aug. 24. A jury trial is scheduled for Dec. 13, if the case has not been settled by then.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine. Second-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
