SAN ACACIA, N.M. — A solar panel placed at a grave site of a 5-year-old boy who was scared of the dark has been stolen for a second time.
Thieves recently took the solar panel from the resting place of Nico Chavez at the San Acacia Cemetery near Socorro, New Mexico. The solar panel powered lights around the grave.
Chavez died in 2008 after collapsing at the doctor’s office. He had been fighting the flu and strep throat.
The family installed it because Chavez was afraid of the dark.
The family said this isn’t the first time something has been stolen from Chavez’s grave. A few years ago, someone stole his piggy bank.
