Area students named to dean’s list 

Nathan Rugroden of Albert Lea and Amelia Evenson and Tanner Jensen, both of Lake Mills, were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Buena Vista University. Students named to the dean’s list must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the semester, based on a 4.0 grade point system, and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

 

Hayward native honored

Sage Kermes of Hayward was named to the spring semester 2016 dean’s list at the University of Minnesota in Crookston.

To qualify for a place on the dean’s list, students must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

 

Area students receive degrees 

Angela Sailor and Nathan Rugroden, both of Albert Lea, and Brianna Paton of Lake Mills recently graduated from Buena Vista University in Mason City, Iowa. Sailor graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in human services. Paton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. Rugroden from Albert Lea graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.

 

SMSU announces recent grads

A total of 698 students graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall on May 7.

Area students who earned their degrees in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs included Drew Forrest Wanzek of Albert Lea, Master of Science; Jared Ray Matson of Albert Lea, Master of Science; Jessica Sara Bremer of Albert Lea, Master of Science; Keli Ann Enser of Albert Lea, Master of Science; Mindy Marie Carlson of Albert Lea, Bachelor of Science; Rory Joseph Hoium of Albert Lea, Bachelor of Arts; Whitney Nicole Lutteke of Wells, Bachelor of Arts; Amanda Kay Henning of Wells, Master of Science; Ami Marie Hart of Wells, Master of Science; and Elizabeth Marie Hansen of Wells, Master of Science.

 

Students graduate from Wartburg College 

Wartburg College awarded diplomas to 331 students during spring commencement May 22. Area students who graduated include Morgan Coita, Taylor Jensen of Clarks Grove and Taylor Peek of Albert Lea.

Ciota graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in psychology and business administration. She is the daughter of Mark and Allison Ciota.

Jensen graduated with a degree in communication arts. She is the daughter of Shannon and Jill Jensen.

Peek graduated with a degree in music education. She is the daughter of Kevin and Patricia Peek.

 

Local student recognized

James B. King of Albert Lea made the dean’s list at McKendree University during the spring semester. King is the son of Bill and Rosemary King and is a 1984 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

 

Local student named to USF dean’s list

The University of Sioux Falls has released its dean’s list for spring semester 2016. Among those honored was Colleen Thompson of Clarks Grove. Thompson is an entrepreneurial studies and media studies major.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
