Pitching can carry a team, especially during the postseason.
Lake Mills got a great performance from Slade Sifuentes in its first round playoff game Saturday in Osage.
Sifuentes pitched a complete-game shutout and the Bulldogs scored plenty of runs in a 7-0 victory over Osage.
The Bulldogs struck for two runs in the third inning, and then added one run each in the third and fourth inning. They finally put the game away with three runs in the sixth inning.
Charlie Dugger, Zach Throne and Sifuentes led the Bulldogs’ offense with two hits apiece.
On the mound, Sifuentes surrendered just five hits and walked three and he struck out nine.
Grant Boehmer and Dugger each scored two runs for the Bulldogs.
The win moves the Bulldogs to 15-11 on the season, but more importantly, on to the next round of the playoffs.
Lake Mills will play in the district semifinal Tuesday against Central Springs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
