MANCHESTER — Three miles north of Albert Lea, just beyond the city limits sign in Manchester is a bend in the road. There travelers will find a closed-down bar aptly named for the topography, at least for now.

The Bend in the Road may soon have new owners and a new name. The building, and the one acre of commercial property it sits on, is going on the auction block later this month through Jensen Real Estate and Auction of Albert Lea.

Visitors will once again be welcomed at the establishment from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday for an open house, according to Beau Jensen, real estate agent and auctioneer. At that time, or by appointment, those interested in the facility can tour the inside of the building and view some of the former bar accessories that will come with the building. These items include a walk-in cooler, tables and stools, taps and pool lights, among others.

Jensen is quick to note that while the building comes with bar accessories, the building shouldn’t be pigeonholed into only being able to serve that purpose. He said the property could accommodate a variety of different businesses and has a great location.

The live public auction will take place at 6 p.m. July 21 at the Bend in the Road, 25483 State Highway 13 in Manchester. Terms and conditions of the sale will be reviewed at the time of the auction.

The facility is currently owned by Produce State Bank and could be transferred to a new owner on or around Aug. 22, pending the outcome of the auction.

Jensen said the building has the potential to be a good business opportunity and he is hoping area residents will see the facility open once again.
