LAKE LILLIAN — A 51-year-old man from Olivia has drowned while swimming in a lake in west-central Minnesota.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office said a possible drowning was reported Friday evening on Big Kandiyohi Lake in rural Lake Lillian. Deputies and first responders arrived to find the victim had been pulled from the water and brought to shore by a boat.

Family members were attempting CPR to revive the man. Medical personnel took over but were unable to revive him.

Authorities said the man was trying to swim across the channel on the southwest side of the lake when he drowned in about 6 to 10 feet of water. His name is being withheld until family members are notified.
