The American Legion baseball season came to an end for Albert Lea Post 56 at the hands of Rochester Mayo Friday afternoon.
After losing to the Rochester A’s on Tuesday, Post 56 headed to Rochester, in hopes of making it back into the winner’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament.
Albert Lea played Owatonna in the morning, and got a great pitching performance from Chris Enderson. Enderson pitched eight innings and allowed two runs in a 6-3 win for Albert Lea.
But being short on pitchers really hampered Post 56 in its next game. Too many walks and simply too many runs doomed Post 56 as it fell to Mayo, 21-13.
“We ran out of arms,” said Albert Lea coach Jay Enderson. “When you’re short on pitching, it’s not going to be good. We ran out of gas, but the guys still competed until the end.”
Post 56 finished the season with a record of 8-8.
