This is my letter to the editor in answer to letter written on July 31 titled “Democracy definition differs” by Charlotte Schocker. I found it quite amusing the way she pointed out my arrogance in my letter from July 25. It is obvious she is planning on voting for Trump in the fall. Now here is a guy that says he can point-blank shoot someone on Times Square, and he won’t lose a vote. In fact, he said his popularity would go up. Now that is true arrogance. I did my best to sound like Trump in my letter but was cut down for it. That, I would guess, is because I am a Democrat. She also accuses Hillary of wanting to take away her guns. I thought I had settled this argument before in my previous arguments in my letters to the editor. There are just as many Democrats who own guns as there are Republicans. Why aren’t the Democrat gun owners concerned about losing their guns? I will tell you why again. The firearms companies and the gun lobby own the Republican Party. All the polls taken were in favor of background checks on gun buyers. The lowest I saw was 85 percent, and the highest I saw was 91 percent. Those were all bipartisan  polls — that means both Democrats and Republicans. Yet, that Republican Congress voted it down. They were all bought off by that gun lobby. It is not hard to figure out why the Republican voters are backing a non-politician for president. It isn’t going to surprise me if he were to get elected that he might declare himself a Democrat. After all, he changes his mind every other week depending on what audience he is talking to. When Trump announced he was going to run for president, it was put in the entertainment section and not in the political section of the news. Stephen Colbert ran on the Democrat ticket four years ago, but the Democrat voters didn’t take him seriously. It just goes to show you those Republican voters just don’t have a sense of humor.
