Weekend Planner: It’s a busy weekend ahead at the fair

The Freeborn County Fair will take most of the spotlight this weekend.

Remaining concerts include rock ‘n’ roll performer Ted Nugent, who will perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The Charlie Daniels Band will perform at the same time on Saturday.

On Sunday, the demolition derby will take place at 4 p.m.

In opposition to the Nugent concert will be the Rally for Civility from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at New Denmark Park. This event will be free, family friendly and full of music and entertainment. Organizers have stated the event will be a celebration of community spirit at the park dedicated to immigrants. This event includes a free folk concert along with a carnival for children.

The following are some other events taking place this weekend:

 

Friday

The Albert Lea Art Center continues its display of its “Barns are Noble” exhibit. The Art Center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Saturday

The Pelican Breeze pizza cruise will leave from Frank Hall Park at 6 p.m. Pizza is provided by Green Mill. Tickets cost $20, include both pizza and the cruise and can be purchased by calling 507-383-7273.

The Albert Lea Farmers Market will offer local produce, baked goods, meats, crafts, gluten-free goods, flowers, bedding plants and much more from 9 a.m. to noon at Northbridge Mall.

The Eagles Club will have a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This $8 breakfast will serve pancakes, eggs, sausages, biscuits with gravy, milk, juice and coffee.

 

Sunday

The Sunday cruise on the Pelican Breeze will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. No reservation is needed for this $10 cruise.
