To the organizers of Wind Down Wednesday.
The last Wind Down Wednesday of the year was this week in downtown Albert Lea. It was great to see so many people out enjoying the day and supporting our area restaurants, vendors and other booths. Thanks for all the hard work everyone puts into this event. It seems to grow every year.
To helping us reach 7,000 Facebook likes.
The Tribune this week passed 7,000 likes on its
Facebook page. On top of our print subscribers, many of these people are newer readers to the Tribune. This means more people are working to be informed about the community.
To celebrate our readers, we are giving out seven pairs of tickets to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Look to our Facebook page for trivia questions each day based on information from the newspaper. The first two winners were announced on Thursday and Friday. Thanks for the support!
To upcoming neighborhood picnics in the city.
Residents are invited to attend one of three neighborhood picnics this week throughout the city. Hot dogs, cookies, chips, watermelon and beverages will be provided, and there will be games for children to enjoy. On Tuesday, the picnic will be at Morin Park; on Wednesday it will be at Valley Park; and on Thursday it will be at Academy Park. All picnics last from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thanks to the city for organizing these events to help the community get to know their neighbors.
To storm damage Thursday in Hollandale.
Hollandale residents picked up the pieces Friday from a storm that swept through the area Thursday, leaving behind many downed trees and even some power lines. We are glad the damage wasn’t worse, but wish the best to those who are cleaning up from this sudden storm.
