A Granada man charged with selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer in April entered a provisional not guilty plea Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.
Jason Jon Casey, 33, is charged with one count of second-degree meth sale.
Court documents state that on April 15 a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputy was told by a confidential informant that Casey planned to sell two eight-balls of meth weighing a total of 7 grams for $500.
That afternoon, the deputy and informant reportedly traveled to a residence on Third Street and met with Casey.
After getting a scale and measuring the methamphetamine, Casey bagged the meth and handed it to the deputy, court documents state. The confidential informant then reportedly handed the money to Casey.
The baggie reportedly weighed 7.6 grams and field-tested positive for meth.
A settlement conference is scheduled for Sept. 28, and a jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 14, if the case has not been settled by then.
Second-degree meth sale carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine, with a sentence of no less than three years.
