Knights roll to win in opener

Well, the first game for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons proved to be a huge success.
The Knights took apart the West Lutheran Warriors, 44-6, Friday night.
“It took us a little bit to get going, but we got rolling in the second quarter,” said Knights coach Chad Mattson. “The guys played well in every aspect of the game.”
The Knights pounded the ball on the ground, carrying it 47 times for 241 yards. Kaleb Bendickson scored three touchdowns, including on a 48-yard pass from Derek VanRyswyk.
The Knights held a 30-6 lead at halftime, then got touchdown runs from Seth Chapek and Brenden Willaby in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
Chapek led the Knights with 88 rushing yards on 16 carries. Defensively, the Knights were led by several standouts. Bendickson finished with six tackles and an interception. Dillan Lien had eight tackles and a sack, Luke Morrison had 10 tackles and a sack, and Dalton Bradley finished with 10 tackles as well. Carter Dahlum also had an interception.
The Knights have their home-opener Friday against Spring Grove.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be played in Glenville.
