To Albert Lea Tribune newspaper carriers.thumb.up

Six days a week, 52 weeks a year, Albert Lea Tribune newspaper carriers are out delivering copies of the newspaper at both businesses and residents. Dealing with both cold and hot temperature extremes throughout the year, these carriers work hard to spread the news. We thank them for their dedication to their jobs.

We you ask that you join with us in recognizing them today on what is known as National Newspaper Carrier Day. If you see your carrier out and about, thank them for their hard work. Show your carrier a little ext appreciation.

To cost savings this year at two-year Minnesota State College and University campuses.          thumb.up

Students at Riverland Community College and other two-year Minnesota State College and University campuses will see an average tuition savings of more than $600 this year.

Tuition was frozen at all two-year and four-year college and universities in the system last year and was lowered at the two-year campuses this year.

As a whole, students in the statewide system are saving $52 million in higher education tuition.

Thanks to our legislators who are recognizing the challenges students face and the enormity of costs to attend college.

To the new football season underway.thumb.up

We know fall has arrived when football games have started and the air temperature begins to drop.

Good luck to the high school teams in our coverage area: the Tigers, Knights, Panthers, Rebels, Vikings and Bulldogs.

We wish our local football teams success as they begin a new year, and, as always — SKOL Vikings!

To the Bayside Ski Team.thumb.up

It’s always impressive to watch the Bayside Ski Team perform its shows each year, and this year is no different. This year the theme for the shows is “Lip Sink Battle,” fashioned after the TV show “Lip Sync Battle.” If you need something fun to do on Labor Day, check out the team’s last show of the season on Edgewater Bay. The Labor Day show will be dedicated to longtime member Jane Edwards, who recently died.
