As a resident of one of two Dodge County townships (Hayfield and Westfield) kicked out of our former legislative district and graciously accepted by legislative District 27A (Albert Lea area), might I express my personal gratitude to state legislator Peggy Bennett for her aid in straightening out a mix-up concerning two Korean KIA vets named Jensen. One named Sylvester was an infantry man from south of Blooming Prairie killed in 1950, the other, a B-29 crewmate of mine (Morton Jensen), was shot down on his 100th mission, taken prisoner and executed, perhaps in 1953.

While discussing  the  above matter at Trumble’s Restaurant, I find it amazing that she wouldn’t even allow a fellow Legionnaire and myself to pay for her lunch. What a difference from her opponent, Gary Schindler, who reportedly accepted a possibly illegal $2,900 contribution and then returned it upon being confronted with the matter.

That Peggy is an obviously financial conservative I find most commendable. And, as to the late special session of the Legislature being at odds with with our Governor Dayton, I say: Good!

A good friend, Elliot Briese,  (who was a World War II vet and one-time prisoner of the Germans), used to have a sign posted in his office stating: “Whenever the Legislature is in session, your wallet and your rights are in danger!)

In conclusion I must say, “Hurrah for Peggy. She would make a most excellent governor.”
