For this art unit, seventh-grade students at Southwest Middle School studied the work of mathematician and artist, M.C. Escher, in addition to the art elements of line and shape to create their tessellated patterns. Each student created his or her own unique template for their design. Students practiced using repeated shapes, lines and colors to create patterns in an effort to add visual interest to their tessellations. This piece is by seventh-grader Mason Studier. Provided
