A Fairmont man arrested in the Los Angeles area last week after fleeing custody in Rochester is facing multiple counts of burglary and theft in Faribault County District Court.

Levi Troy Dahl, 21, was charged Sept. 15 with two counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary and third-degree burglary and three counts of felony theft.

His first appearance on the charges was scheduled for Monday.

Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag said Dahl is awaiting extradition from California.

“We haven’t picked him up, but we will eventually,” Freitag said. “We have to see if he’s going to fight extradition or waive it.”

Court documents state a rural Faribault County business owner reported three guns, ammunition and approximately $5,500 in cash had been removed from a safe. Tools, such as a plasma cutter and two welders were also reported stolen.

Three cameras at the business reportedly showed three vehicles at the scene. A male described as wearing a New York Yankees baseball hat, light-colored T-shirt and shorts reportedly appeared to have a revolver in his hand.

The alleged victim reported the total value of items taken to be in excess of $16,000.

On Sept. 6, sunglasses and a sunglasses case were found with drugs and a memory card, court documents state.

Another suspect in the theft, Ryan Jensen, was identified in the find, along with photos of a Dodge Durango allegedly used in the burglary, court documents state.

On Sept. 6, Dahl, who was driving a white Chevy Malibu allegedly used in the theft, was involved in a chase in Albert Lea.

The chase reportedly reached speeds of more than 60 mph.

Dahl was later arrested and faces two counts of criminal vehicular operation, one count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and one count of reckless driving in Freeborn County District Court.

Court documents state law enforcement then became aware of another robbery between Aug. 31 and Sept. 6 at a rural Faribault County residence, during which a gun safe was reportedly cut and some weapons, as well as a large amount of cash, were taken.

Security footage at a local business showed Dahl, Jensen and an unknown third person purchase a Black and Decker grinder, two cutting blades, a bolt cutter and duct tape reportedly used in one of the burglaries.

A circular saw with a blade capable of cutting the safe at one of the burglaries was found at a residence Dahl shares with his girlfriend in Fairmont, court documents state.

A Black and Decker metal cutting blade, a pellet pistol with wooden grips and other items were reportedly seized during a search of Jensen’s residence.

A search warrant of a Dodge Durango Jensen was driving, which was allegedly used in the burglary, reportedly yielded $2 bills and coins identified by an alleged victim as having been stolen and binoculars seen in possession of people committing one of the burglaries.

Felony theft carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. First-degree burglary carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
