Ondoro repeats as Twin Cities Marathon winner, sets record

Kenyan Dominic Ondoro has repeated as winner of the Twin Cities Marathon, this time breaking a 30-year-old course record.

Ondoro crossed the finish line Sunday in 2 hours, 8 minutes, 51 seconds. The Star Tribune reports his time was more than a minute better than the previous record of 2:10:05 set by Phil Coppess in 1985.

Ondoro beat his own time from last year by nearly 2.5 minutes. Another Kenyan, Elisha Barno, finished second for the second straight year at 2:10:21. Rodgers Gesabwa was third at 2:15:24.

Kenyan Jane Kibii was top women’s finisher at 2:30:01 a year after taking second place. She pulled away during the second half and finished more than 2 minutes ahead of Sarah Kiptoo, who finished at 2:32:18. Serkalem Abrha was third at 2:34:58.
