BURNSVILLE — The Minnesota State Patrol says two people died when a police chase that started in Apple Valley ended in a crash in Burnsville.
The Patrol says both the fleeing driver and another motorist were killed in the crash, which happened just before 8:30 p.m. Monday on Dakota County Road 5 near Williams Drive, just south of Minnesota Highway 13.
The Patrol said police officers from both Apple Valley and Burnsville were involved in the chase.
Authorities have not yet said what led to the chase or identified the two people who were killed. The State Patrol said more information would be released Tuesday.
Xcel Energy said the crash toppled two power poles, cutting electricity to more than 300 customers in the immediate area. Power was restored several hours later.
