The Albert Lea volleyball team took on Northfield, one of the best teams in the Big Nine Conference, Tuesday night in the final regular season match for 2016.
The Tigers were looking to build some momentum heading into the playoffs. However, the Raiders kept up their hot play, having won 11 matches in a row coming into Tuesday’s match.
They extended that streak to 12.
The Raiders beat the Tigers in three sets, as the Tigers failed to go on any runs to challenge the Raiders in the three sets.
“(Northfield) is a solid team and played a solid game,” said Tigers coach Cathy Baumann. “We didn’t adjust well defensively and were too slow to move to the ball. We couldn’t make up the deficit to put more pressure on them.”
Camryn Keyeski led the Tigers with 10 kills and 12 digs.
Albert Lea finished the regular season with a record of 8-13 (4-7 in the Big Nine).
Section play will start a week from today.
