Saints lap Tigers in the pool

The Albert Lea girls’ swimming and diving team had a meet in St. Peter Tuesday night.
The Tigers fell to the Saints by a score of 101-64.
Emily Taylor won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.39, a full second faster than St. Peter’s Sophia Lamor. Taylor also took first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.01.
Albert Lea’s relay team of Jaeda Koziolek, Natalie Nafzger, Lydia Boorsma and Taylor finished in second place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:03.03. The foursome finished two seconds behind St. Peter.
Alana Skarstad took third in the 200 freestyle. with a time of 2:22.06. Jill Peterson took fourth in a time of 2:28.00.
Koziolek finished in second place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:10.11, .13 seconds behind first place. Emily Jensen took fifth in the event with a time of 1:16.70.
Koziolek also claimed second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.66. Nafzger finished in fourth with a time of 1:13.23 and Boorsma finished fifth with a time of 1:15.25.
Albert Lea will now gear up for the Big Nine Conference Friday in Northfield and Saturday in Rochester.
