President Barack Obama last week announced commutations of drug-related sentences for 98 people across the country — including one man from Emmons.
Thomas Lee Miller was sentenced in December 2003 to 30 years in prison and 16 years of supervised release after being convicted of manufacturing or attempting to manufacture five grams or more of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a protected location. He had a prior felony drug conviction.
The conviction took place in the northern district of Iowa.
According to a news release, Miller’s prison sentence will now expire on Oct. 27, 2018, conditioned upon enrollment into residential drug treatment.
