Here are highlights in history for May 19, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — George Ehrhardt and Tom Lang were elected to serve on the School District 241 Board of Education. They would be replacing Dr. Steve Schwartz and Dennis Raiche.
1978 — A Tribune ad said, “It’s nice to feel so good about a meal. And that meal, according to the ad, was available at Kentucky Fried Chicken, 910 S. Broadway Ave.
1948 — This was Balloon Day in Albert Lea; the day several stores sent up balloons with bags telling the finders where to find bargains.
