Betty died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at her niece’s home in Eden Prairie, where she had been staying the past several weeks. She was 86.
She was born March 24, 1930, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Edward Stanton and Rose (Weiss) Gulbrandson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School with the class of 1948. Betty had went to work for Interstate Power and then ventured out and worked, first for the Air Force in Colorado Springs and then at Smith Engineering in Pensacola, Florida. She returned to Albert Lea and worked at Freeborn County Oil as the office manager for many years before retiring.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed working with Caring and Sharing and knitted many prayer shawls.
Betty, with her warm, outgoing personality, was a great asset as she volunteered at the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary Coffee Shop and again used her handywork and proudly knit baby caps.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Gulbrandson of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews Lynn (Kris ) Gulbrandson of Ely, Gary (Mary) Gulbrandson of St. Paul, Pam (Bob) Copeland of Eden Prairie, Gerri Marie (Tim) Leonard of Bloomington, David (Mary) Gulbrandson of Brooklyn Park, Diane Gulbrandson of Bloomington and Cory Gulbrandson of Bloomington; and many great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald “Jerry” Gulbrandson.
Betty was adventurous, warm, welcoming and happy. She always seemed to find and bring out the best in everyone. Betty will be greatly missed.
