The right choice for the 3rd Ward

I consider myself in a unique position when recommending Jason Howland for the Albert Lea City Council, Ward 3. In the three years since I moved back to Albert Lea, I’ve worked with Jason in professional and volunteer capacities. While Jason and I work on Mayo Clinic’s Rochester campus, we each choose to live in Albert Lea. His decision to live in Albert Lea speaks to his sincere belief in the community and its quality of life. He is a well-respected colleague known for his professionalism and work ethic.
I also have the pleasure of volunteering with Jason on behalf of the Albert Lea Community Theatre. His commitment to the organization has contributed to its continued success and provided him with experience working with the city of Albert Lea and the City Council, as ACT manages the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center on behalf of the city. As a nonprofit organization, ACT needs volunteers like Jason who advocate on its behalf. I know he will be the same type of advocate for the residents of the 3rd Ward.
Listening to Jason and his opponent during the candidate forum, it became clear to me and I hope to others, that Jason’s reasons for running were about public service rather than a personal agenda and negativity. It’s that type of attitude that we need for Albert Lea to move forward and grow.
As a new homeowner in Ward 3, I endorse Jason and will vote for him on Tuesday.
