Dale Stanley Johnson, 69, of Shorewood died suddenly on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Excelsior. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Onine condolences are welcome at www.huberfunerals.com.
Dale was born Sept. 24, 1947, to Stanley and Beatrice (Lembke) Johnson in Albert Lea. He was baptized and confirmed at Lunder Lutheran Church in rural Twin Lakes. He graduated from Emmons High School in 1965 and from Austin Vocational-Technical School in 1967 with a background in electronics. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam.
On Oct. 9, 1976, Dale was united in marriage to Nancy Geyen at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound. They lived in Hopkins for a few years before moving to Shorewood in 1987.
Dale partnered with a friend to establish their company, Quantum Controls, in Chanhassen in the mid-1980s. He semi-retired from Quantum in February 2016.
Dale found his faith in Christ during his childrens’ childhood and remained a faithful believer. He was also active in politics, the Chanhassen American Legion and — in past years — a curling club and a card club.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his children Melissa (Damian) Chapman and Alan Johnson, both of Plymouth; his granddaughter and light of his life, Adeline Chapman; sister, Carol Kallberg, of Albert Lea; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Linda (Len) Princivalli, Lupe Gomez, Mary Geyen (Steve Miller), Sandy Duvall, Tom (Roni) Geyen. Steve (Kathy Geyen), Danny (Sue) Geyen, Mike (Tatiya) Geyen and Patricia Johnson; mother-in-law, Dorothy Geyen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Beatrice; his sister, Sylvia, in infancy; his brother, Wayne, in 1975 and his brother, Scott, in infancy; father-in-law, Elmer Geyen; sister-in-law, Gail Gomez; and brother-in-law, Maurice Kallberg.
