The Northwood-Kensett girls’ basketball team got its season off to a good start Tuesday night.
The Vikings allowed just 12 points in the first half, then hung on in the second half for a 46-38 win over North Iowa.
The Vikings built a 28-12 lead at the half, and extended the lead to 18 points after the third quarter.
North Iowa battled back in the fourth quarter, but ran out of gas at the end.
Senior Calli Christianson led the Vikings with 15 points on 5-12 shooting. She also added five steals.
Fellow senior Mackenzie Costello stuffed the statsheet — eight points, eight rebounds, five assists and five blocks — and senior Terran Haberman also scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
All but one point came from the Northwood-Kensett starters. Dusti Bratrud was the only bench player to record a point for the Vikings.
