Two local residents killed in Blue Earth County crash

Authorities have identified an Albert Lea man and Clarks Grove woman as the two people who died Monday morning after a crash west of Pemberton.

Jasmine Newman Evans, 21, and David Wesley Neely, 24, died at the scene.

Newman Evans was reportedly driving a 2001 Ford Taurus when the car collided with a 2012 Ford F550 Super Duty tow truck driven by Nicholas Robert Peterson, 22, of Lake Mills at the intersection of Blue Earth County roads 10 and 14, according to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office. The crash took place at 1:11 a.m. Monday.

Neely was reportedly a passenger in the Ford Taurus.

Peterson was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato by Gold Cross Ambulance with injuries deemed non life-threatening, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol. Information about what might have led to the crash has not been released.
