Harriet died Wednesday, Oct., 26, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Harriet Gertrude Nielsen was born June 21, 1915, in Bricelyn, the daughter of Andrew and Minnie (Wangen) Olson. She grew up in Albert Lea, attending school there.
On Aug. 2, 1938, Harriet was united in marriage to Enok Henry Nielsen at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and participated in the Ladies’ Circle.
Harriet liked cross-stitch, needlework, bowling, selling Avon, playing card games and Rummikub. Her favorite game during the past 10years was Bunco, played daily with Denny, Jo and Lou. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Harriet also loved to dance, and she and her husband won several dance contests. Singing herself to sleep was very comforting for her in her last few years, too.
Harriet is survived by her daughter, Jo Nielsen-LaCore, and husband, Harry; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Enok; daughters Janelle in infancy and Jan Askildson; sons Ronnie, Enok Jr. and Denny; sisters Madelyn and Alice; and brothers Donald, Kenneth and Lowell.
She will be truly missed by many as she was such a blessing to anyone who met her.
“Until we meet again, we will have her beautiful memories stored in our hearts.”
