Scholarship winners announced
Sons of Norway Normanna lodge No. 51 of Albert Lea has selected the winners of two $2,000 scholarships to persons — one per year — with a 3.0 grade point average on a scale of 4.0 who have completed at least two years of college and enrolled in a program that leads to concentration in Scandinavian studies, according to a press release.
Winners for 2016 are Siri Block of Minneapolis, a student at St. Olaf College in Northfield; and Mitchell Moe of Montevideo, who is also a student at St. Olaf College.
The funds were paid to the recipients’ college on Dec. 5.
The money used for the scholarships has been given by Shirley M. Bartholomew, Bertha Weiks and other members and friends of Sons of Norway and Normanna Lodge per the scholarship committee at Normanna Lodge No. 52 in Albert Lea.
