Letter was not fair to Shopko

I am writing in response to Frances Swenson’s letter concerning motorized cart usage at Northbridge Mall.

First of all, I am sorry for your circumstances. I do, however, feel you are not being fair to Shopko.

Shopko furnishes these carts for the convenience of their customers, not for the convenience of the entire mall. Other stores in the mall and the mall itself do not offer this service, and they aren’t criticized.

If you have an accident using their car outside of their store, their insurance might not cover it, but could still hold Shopko liable.

In the spirit of Christmas, I feel you owe them an apology.

I would like to thank Shopko for its senior citizen parking spaces, which I have enjoyed for more years than I care to admit. I have never seen another store anywhere offer this service.

So, to Shopko and all its employees, I sincerely wish you a merry and blessed Christmas.
