After returning to the win column Tuesday, the NRHEG girls’ basketball team was looking to stay perfect in the early stages of 2017 when it traveled to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Thursday.
The Panthers got double-digit scoring from three players to lead them to a 54-41 win.
Betsy Schoenrock led the way for the Panthers with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
NREHG led 29-22 at halftime, but head coach Onika Peterson wasn’t too impressed with the first 18 minutes.
“We came out a little flatter than what we would have liked to,” Peterson said. “We played better in the second half. We need to continue to attack the basket on offense and make smarter choices with the ball. However, it was a great conference win.”
Maddie Wagner finished with 13 points and Marnie Wagner added 12.
NRHEG will play in Hayfield on Saturday as part of a girl-boy doubleheader.
