Knights softball tops Wolverines

ALDEN — Jessica Anderson had four hits and five RBIs Thursday, and the Alden-Conger Knights softball team beat the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines 12-7 in Alden.
The Knights had a 2-0 lead after the first inning before the Wolverines scored three in the second to pull ahead 3-2. Knights pitcher Ali Songstad held the Wolverines scoreless through the next three innings as the Knights pulled away with a 9-2 entering the sixth.
Songstad scattered nine hits while striking out four and walking two.
The Knights (6-9, 3-8 Valley) slugged 14 hits off Wolverines (5-8, 5-3 Southeast) pitcher Kailey Davis and drew five walks. Davis pitched six innings and struck out two batters.
Megan Knutson, Karina Skov and Emily Bremseth each had two hits for the Knights, and Knutson and Bremseth had three RBIs.
Jennaca Haines went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Wolverines, and Alayna Hall and Devin Cooper each notched two hits. Kayla Woodside added two RBIs.
The win concluded the regular season for the Knights, who play again May 26 in the first round of the Section 1 tournament.
The Wolverines play again at 4 p.m. today against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (9-8, 7-5 Gopher) in Glenville.
