PACER workshop planned

PACER Center workshop in Faribault will focus on transitioning to employment for youth with disabilities the Minneapolis PACER Center will offer “Transitioning to Employment,” a free workshop for parents of youth with disabilities and for professionals. It will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Rice County Government Services, 320 Third St. N.W., Faribault.
Planning for employment is an important step in preparing a young adult with a disability for life after high school. According to a press release , the workshop will provide information on career exploration and planning. Parents will gain knowledge about how to help prepare their youth for employment and life skills after high school.
Parents of students in the ninth grade and above are encouraged to attend. Topics will include:
• Career explorations.
• Having high expectations for yourself.
• How Vocational Rehabilitation Services can assist in setting and reaching employment goals.
Participants will receive a packet of helpful information and resources. This event is co-sponsored by the Rice County Community Transition Interagency Committee.
