Minnesota had a one-point halftime lead at Iowa, but cooled off shooting and lost, 80-65. The game remained close until the fourth quarter, when Iowa (13-7, 4-3 Big Ten) took its first double-digit lead. Gadiva Hubbard and led the Golden Gophers (11-9, 2-5 Big Ten) with 18 points, and Carlie Wagner had 16. Kenisha Bell added 11 points, and Whitney Tinjum 10.

Hubbard shot 6-for-12 and scored 12 of her points in the second half. However, as a team the Gophers finished the game at 37.5 percent after shooting 46.7 percent in the first half. Iowa shot 48.8 percent on the day, going 16-of-31 in the second half.

Jessie Edwards tallied 14 rebounds for the Gophers. The Hawkeyes ended up with a 40-34 rebounding advantage, led by 12 from Megan Gustafson. Gustafson scored a game-high 19 points. Ally Disterhoft had 17 points.

First quarter

Bell opened the scoring with a three-point play, and Edwards made a put-back bank shot to put the Gophers up 5-3 before a 6-0 Iowa run started with two fastbreak baskets. Minnesota made four 3-pointers during the remainder of the first, including two by Tinjum. The first featured four ties and six lead changes, and Minnesota led 21-19 at the end of it.

Second quarter

Minnesota led by as much as seven during the second, with Wagner scoring eight points leading into a 31-24 advantage with 5:59 to go in the half. The Gophers cooled off shooting later in the quarter, and Iowa had trimmed the Maroon and Gold lead to 36-35 at the break. Wagner and Tinjum each had 10 points in the first half, and Edwards has six rebounds.

Third quarter

The Hawkeyes pulled ahead for the first time since the first quarter. Hubbard drove and scored twice for a 41-40 Minnesota lead, but Iowa went back ahead 49-42. The Gophers got within one point, but no closer. Hubbard scored eight points in the third, but Minnesota shot 5-for-18 as a team. Gustafson had 11 points for the Hawkeyes to lead them to a 57-51 lead.

Fourth quarter

After Iowa first took a 10-point lead, the Gophers cut it to six at the 5:51 mark with points from Bell. The Hawkeyes did not allow them to get any closer the rest of the way, leading by as much as 18.
