Freeborn County Disaster Recovery Center to close

As Minnesota recovery efforts continue, the services offered by the State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Freeborn County will transition to Waseca Public Safety Center, 303 S. State St., at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until further notice.

Representatives from FEMA, various state agencies and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the center to answer questions on disaster assistance or low-interest disaster loans.

Monday is the deadline to apply for FEMA assistance. Call 800-621-3362, voice 711 or video relay services, or 800-462-7585 for TTY users to apply. Operators, including multilingual ones, are on duty from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Those who are registered online at DisasterAssistance.gov. can provide a change of address, telephone or bank account numbers and new insurance information to avoid any processing delays, get facts about FEMA home inspections and learn how to appeal a FEMA decision.
