In honor of the upcoming I Love To Read Month, kindergarten through fifth-grade art projects at Halverson Elementary School are connected to a book by Dr. Seuss. Kindergarten’s book is “The Cat In The Hat.” Many kindergarten art standards were touched on with this lesson, including: identify four basic shapes of square, circle, triangle and rectangle; identify four basic lines of straight, curved, dotted and zigzag; identify six colors of red, yellow, blue, orange, green and purple; use the elements of visual art including line, shape, color, texture and space; and demonstrate beginning skill in use of basic art tools and processes, like paper, scissors, glue and drawing utensils.
