“It was another slow start for us,” Lake Mills coach Thad Evans said after Tuesday night his team’s 61-40 loss to North Union.
The Bulldogs fell behind early, scoring only three points in the first quarter and faced a 13-point deficit after the first eight minutes.
“The girls fought hard to compete after the first quarter, but the hole was too deep,” Evans said.
Jewell Gasteiger led the Bulldogs with 13 points, and Laura Knudtson and Jade Gasteiger each had eight points. Lexi Groe finished with 10 rebounds.
“We did some nice things,” Evans said. “But it wasn’t early enough in this contest.”
The loss drops Lake Mills to 7-6 in the Top of Iowa Conference and 11-7 overall.
It will be in Buffalo Center on Friday to take on North Iowa.
