5 things to do this weekend

1. Big Island Rendezvous Historical Faire
The 24th annual Big Island Rendezvous Historical Faire will take place this weekend at Northbridge Mall.
There will be over 40 tables of items for sale, including pottery, woodworking, ironwork, art, jewelry and colonial crafts.
In addition, there will be presentations and workshops on spinning and natural dyes, territorial pioneers, the New Ulm battery, a pioneer jail and gold panning, to name a few topics.
The historical event will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
2. Night to Shine
First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea on Friday night will host Night to Shine, a prom night experience centered on God’s love, for teens with special needs ages 14 to 19.
Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, the event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. First Lutheran Church is one of more than 350 churches in nine countries around the world to host the event simultaneously.

3. Benson Family Singers
The Benson Family Singers from Faribault will lead the worship service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Myrtle at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Peter and Rachelle Benson, along with three of their sons — David, Aaron and Luke — have a bluegrass and gospel music. They specialize in a cappella harmonies and also play a variety of instruments, including guitar, banjo, bass, violin and mandolin.
They have performed for many shows, festivals, churches and private events throughout the Midwest. They use their music to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The public is invited to this free event.
4. Parents Night Out
Albert Lea Parks and Recreation will sponsor Parents Night Out from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at Edgewater Bay Pavilion.
Parents can bring children ages 4 to 12 to the pavilion, where Parks and Recreation staff will entertain and feed them. Children will enjoy games, arts and crafts, and a movie. Pizza and drink will be provided.
Fee is $8 for the first child and $4 for each additional child.
5. The Albert Lea Art Center All-Member Show
The Albert Lea Art Center’s All-Member Show continues this week at 226 W. Clark St.
The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday and continues through Wednesday.
It includes at least 50 artworks from about 18 artists, including a variety of media, such as watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, ceramics and photography.
