After falling to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Tuesday, the NRHEG boys’ basketball team was looking to take out some frustration, having dropped two of three games after starting 17-0.

Blooming Prairie was the one to feel the pain, as the Panthers rolled the Awesome Blossoms, 57-22.

“(We) came out and played about as well as we could play defensively,” Panthers coach Pat Churchill said. “We made everything difficult for (Blooming Prairie).”

The Panthers raced out to a 13-3 lead, then bumped it up to 26-3 later in the first half.

NRHEG held Blooming Prairie to 14 points in the first half and just eight points in the second.

“I was proud of our defensive effort,” Churchill said. “That has been our calling-card all year long. We were good on offense for stretches, but our defense carried the day.”

Oakley Baker found his way with 22 points, and Benji Lundberg and Jerret Utpadal added eight points apiece.

The win moves NRHEG to 19-2 on the season and it will host United South Central on Monday.
