Newman Catholic tops Lake Mills

The Lake Mills boys’ basketball team was looking to end its regular season with a victory and a four-game winning streak when it traveled to Mason City to play Newman Catholic on Friday night.
Newman Catholic set the tone from the first quarter on and was able to take down Lake Mills, despite getting 20 points for Zach Throne, 73-62.
Throne hit six threes on the night and the Bulldogs hit 13 as a team, but it wasn’t enough.
Newman Catholic made 17 free throws while Lake Mills attempted just seven.
Lake Mills finishes the regular season with a record of 13-8 and 9-7 in the Top of Iowa Conference.
Its opponent in the playoffs has not been determined.
